Workshop on IHL in Malakand University

December 16, 2014: President CODE PAKISTAN, Dilawar Khan, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), conducted two-days training workshop on International Humanitarian Law at the Department of Law, Malakand University. The course helped the law students to understand International Law obligations and responsibilities of state and non-state entities during times of an armed conflict. Pakistan has ratified the 4 Geneva Conventions, the core body of International Humanitarian Law, also called Laws of Armed Conflict. The students raised important questions related to the contemporary challenges faced by a modern state and its obligations under the International treaties and conventions. The students demanded to have more such sessions in future to enable the young lawyers to better understand Pakistan’s position with reference to International Law obligations.
