March 27, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN held a consultation on countering violent extremism at Jamia Mohammadia, Islamabad, today. Team CODE PAKISTAN gave a comprehensive presentation on the importance of peace, tolerance, inclusivity, and accepting of diversity according to Islamic teachings at the madrassah, which was followed by a general discussion among the over 60 participants of the discussion, including students and faculty members of the Jamia Mohammadia. The students of Jamia Mohammadia actively participated in the discussion and highlighted the need for such events at other madrassahs and other educational institutions. They said that the students of madrassahs were going to colleges and universities for obtaining higher education and stressed the need for greater university-madrassah interaction. They added that the students of madrassahs were making effective use of modern technologies, such as the internet and social media. The need for greater inter-madrassah interactions was also highlighted during the discussion.
