Consultation at Jamia Islamia Clifton

April 1, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN held a consultation on countering violent extremism at Jamia Islamia Clifton, Karachi, today. Team CODE PAKISTAN gave a comprehensive presentation on the importance of peace, tolerance, inclusivity, and accepting of diversity according to Islamic teachings at the madrassah, which was followed by a general discussion among the over 50 participants of the discussion, including students and faculty members of the Jamia Islamia Clifton. The students of Jamia Islamia Clifton actively participated in the discussion. They appreciated the need for acquiring contemporary education for madrassah students. They added that the students of madrassahs were going to colleges and universities for obtaining higher education and were excelling in contemporary education as well. The students of Jamia Islamia Clifton shared that they also actively participated in extra-curricular activities, such as writing and debating competitions, sports, etc. They added that the students of madrassahs were making effective use of modern technologies, such as the internet and social media. The students of Jamia Islamia Clifton highly appreciated the efforts of CODE PAKISTAN for the betterment of madrassahs.
