March 30, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN held a consultation on countering violent extremism at Jamia Mohammadia Ghousia, Islamabad, today. Team CODE PAKISTAN gave a comprehensive presentation on the importance of peace, tolerance, inclusivity, and accepting of diversity according to Islamic teachings at the madrassah, which was followed by a general discussion among the over 50 participants of the discussion, including students and faculty members of the Jamia Mohammadia Ghousia. The students of Jamia Mohammadia Ghousia actively participated in the discussion. They appreciated the need for acquiring contemporary education for madrassah students. They added that the students of madrassahs were going to colleges and universities for obtaining higher education and were excelling in contemporary education as well. The students of Jamia Mohammadia Ghousia were of the view that the students of madrassahs also wanted to learn modern languages and computer education. They urged CODE PAKISTAN to organize language and computer courses for madrassah students. The students of Jamia Mohammadia Ghousia highly appreciated the efforts of CODE PAKISTAN for the betterment of madrassahs.
