Awareness Raising about COVID-19 at Jamia Rahmania

September 20, 2020: CODE PAKISTAN held a session with regard to COVID-19 prevention and awareness at Jamia Rahmania, Dargai. The purpose of the session was to raise awareness about the necessary precautions related COVID-19 among the administration, students, and faculty members of Jamia Rahmania, Dargai, and to distribute information material and personal protection equipment like masks and soaps among them.

Jamia Rahmania is a well-respected institution of religious learning in the area. It was established by a renowned local religious leader Maulana Inayat-ur-Rahman who has also served a term as a Member of National Assembly (MNA). After his death, his son Maulana Atta-ur-Rahman is heading the madrassah. The total number of students in the madrassah is around 300. Maulana Atta-ur-Rahman is a young and forward-looking religious leader who is also heading a welfare organization by the name Rahman Welfare Organization (RWO). RWO has been operational in the area since 2007 and has been working for the social welfare of the communities. Recently, it also initiated a COVID-19 awareness drive on its own.

Our session started with the video featuring talks by various doctors on COVID-19 prevention and awareness. The video was followed by a comprehensive presentation and practical demonstration on COVID-19 prevention by Dr. Ammar Maani, who accompanied the CODE PAKISTAN team for the session to handle the post-video presentation Q&A.

CODE PAKISTAN would like to thank Maulana Atta-ur-Rahman for his warm welcome to the visiting team of CODE PAKISTAN and his commitment to the cause of the welfare of the madrassah students in general and the students of Jamia Rahmania in particular. Our session at Jamia Rahmania, Dargai, was part of our ongoing efforts to engage the students and faculties of madrassahs as community leaders to raise awareness about COVID-19 prevention.
