March 22, 2018: The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) will hold the Islamabad International Counter Terrorism Forum (IICTF) on April 3-5, 2018, which is going to become an annual feature. CODE PAKISTAN is proudly assisting NACTA in holding the inaugural IICTF. The theme for this year’s IICTF is “Pakistan’s Endeavors and Achievements in Countering Extremism/ Terrorism (PEACE).” IICTF 2018 aims at achieving recognition for and celebrating Pakistan’s successes in countering extremism and terrorism. Noted international speakers from all over the world have been invited to share their expertise on international best practices on counter terrorism strategies, with national speakers contributing their invaluable input on Pakistan’s long struggle against terrorism and its triumph from victim to victor. The IICTF will be widely attended by representatives of Think Tanks and academia, as well as researchers related to security, terrorism, and counter extremism. IICTF will also engage diplomats, governmental officials, parliamentarians, Politicians, UN agencies, international organization, aid agencies, media, and civil society. It is hoped that through the IICTF Pakistan would draw world attention toward the human and financial losses it has incurred owing to being on the frontline in the so-called global war on terror. IICTF would highlight the sacrifices and resolve of the state, as well as the resilience of the nation, in this regard. For further details on IICTF please visit its website.
Inter alia, CODE PAKISTAN is assisting NACTA by providing student volunteers to help with the event, in collaboration with the Bahria University, National Defence University (NDU), and School of International Law (SIL). Today, CODE PAKISTAN gathered the volunteering students from the three educational institutions for their orientation session at NACTA. The session was attended by team CODE PAKISTAN, as well as senior officials from NACTA, alongside, of course, the students who have volunteered to help with the event. The event featured orientation for students on various aspects of IICTF and their roles. Given the scale of the event and the wide range of international and national speakers attending, volunteers were familiarized with the need for professionalism and discretion.
