March 14, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN, in collaboration with the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), held a consultative session with senior-level representatives of madrassahs from Islamabad, Karachi, and Peshawar, in CII today. The session was chaired by Chairman of CII Dr. Qibla Ayaz. The aim of the consultation was to discuss the services of the madrassahs, the challenges they are facing in providing their services, and the solutions for addressing the challenges.
Dr. Qibla Ayaz was of the view that there was a general lack of understanding among the Pakistanis about the madrassahs. He added that the madrassah leadership fully supported the government in its efforts at the mainstreaming of madrassahs. The consultation featured three breakout consultative sessions for discussing the issues related to the registration and reform of madrassahs, introduction of uniform educational curriculum as proposed by the government, and enhancing livelihood opportunities for madrassah graduates.
