April 4, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN held a consultation on countering violent extremism with the students of Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore, today. Team CODE PAKISTAN gave a comprehensive presentation on the importance of peace, tolerance, inclusivity, and accepting of diversity according to Islamic teachings at the madrassah, which was followed by a general discussion among the over 50 participants of the discussion, including students and faculty members of the Jamia Ashrafia. The students of Jamia Ashrafia actively participated in the discussion. They appreciated the need for acquiring contemporary education for madrassah students. The students of Jamia Ashrafia also emphasized the need for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at madrassahs and the need for learning modern languages and computers The students of Jamia Ashrafia highly appreciated the efforts of CODE PAKISTAN for the betterment of madrassahs.
