February 23, 2021: CODE PAKISTAN organized a dialogue between the students of Jamia Atharia Peshawar and Islamia College University Peshawar. The dialogue held at Jamia Atharia located in the Chamkani outskirt of Peshawar was the third in a series of dialogues CODE PAKISTAN is organizing between the students of madrassahs and the students of the contemporary education. The topic of the dialogue was “The Importance of Tolerance for Peace and Prosperity of Nations.”
The dialogue provided a unique opportunity for the students of both the systems of education to freely interact with each other and express their views on the topic of discussion. Three students each from Jamia Atharia and Islamia College University expressed their views on the topic from the podium, which was followed by a Q&A session with the participants. The dialogue was highly interactive. The students of Jamia Atharia Peshawar as well as the students of Islamia College University Peshawar openly interacted with each other through the platform provided by CODE PAKISTAN.
The administrator of Jamia Atharia Maulana Umer bin Abdul Aziz highly appreciated the initiative of CODE PAKISTAN and was of the view that such efforts play a key role in bridging the divide between the students of madrassahs and the students of the mainstream education system. He said that he highly emphasized the need for more such interaction between the students of madrassahs and contemporary education institutions. He was of the view that the students of both education systems needed to concentrate on their studies and not involve themselves in any divisive activities and thoughts. He urged CODE PAKISTAN to continue with its efforts to counter misperceptions between the students of the madrassah and mainstream education systems by promoting dialogue between them. Youth Education Specialist CODE PAKISTAN Mr. Rafiq Badshah was of the view that interaction was the only option for addressing misperceptions between two groups of individuals.
