February 4, 2017: In a written reply to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, mentioned CODE PAKISTAN\’s upcoming Madrassahs Audit Reporting Standardization (MARS) Project with reference to madrassah reform. CODE PAKISTAN has been in consultations with the Ministry of Interior for some time over the project. Now, the Ministry of Interior has referred to it in its written reply to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Dawn, one of the leading English-language newspapers of Pakistan, has mentioned CODE PAKISTAN in the last paragraph of a front page story on the government\’s response in the Supreme Court dated February 4, 2017. It says,
\”A pilot project for training madressah administration in conduct of audit of accounts has also been undertaken at Nacta in collaboration with Code Pakistan, an NGO, it [Ministry of Interior\’s written response in the Supreme Court] said.\”
MARS aims to assist the Government of Pakistan in improving its financial oversight of the madrassahs pursuant to the National Action Plan (NAP), the National Internal Security Policy (NISP), and the Madrassah Registration Ordinance (MRO) through a nation-wide capacity-building of madrasahs on annual audit reporting.
This is not only an acknowledgment of CODE PAKISTAN\’s efforts in the field of madrassah reform but also an acknowledgment of the fact that the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, values its partnership with CODE PAKISTAN.
