July 14, 2016: We are proud to announce that CODE PAKSITAN assisted the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in organizing the National Counter Extremism Workshop. The event was widely attended by serving and retired government officials, intellectuals, academics, religious scholars, and political leaders.
The purpose of the consultation was to solicit the input of a cross-section of community leaders and opinion-makers on evolving a national counter-extremism policy. The inaugural session, presided over by National Coordinator NACTA Ihsan Ghani, laid out the basic framework of the consultations after which simultaneous consultative sessions were held on the following six themes:
- Community resilience
- Media Engagement
- Cultural Revival
- Education Reform
- Rehabilitation and reintegration
- Enabling environment
The findings of each of the six consultative sessions were compiled in the form of three recommendations per theme to be submitted to the Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan graced the concluding ceremony of the event with his presence, wherein he appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants for holding the National Counter Extremism Workshop. He added that the activity will be followed up through formation of steering committees from among senior members of each group for further deliberation and proposing actionable steps for future interventions in the field.
