March 20, 2019: CODE PAKISTAN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jamia Binoria, Karachi, today for the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) in Jamia Binoria.
According to the MOU, CODE PAKISTAN will provide Jamia Binoria with technical assistance in the establishment of the center. The center will conduct research on countering violent extremism, provide trainings to the students and teachers of Jamia Binoria and other madrassahs in research, English-language communication skills, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. On the occasion of the signing ceremony of the MOU, the two sides agreed to continue their collaboration for the promotion of peace, tolerance, national cohesion, and inter-sectarian harmony.
The two sides agreed that the center would be purely academic, not based on any political, ethnic, linguistic, or sectarian ideology. They further agreed that the purpose for establishing the center is to encourage and promote the involvement of the youth in peacebuilding, social cohesion, national integration, counter extremism, and empowerment of vulnerable segments of the society. The two sides affirmed to work together for running the center on the basis of reciprocity. The two sides further resolved that the rules and regulations of the center will be in accordance with national laws and international standards, UN resolutions, international treaties and agreements, state policies, and national and provincial laws currently in force.
The MOU was signed at Jamia Binoria, Karachi, by Director General Administration and Finance of Jamia Binoria Mufti Farhan Naeem on behalf of Jamia Binoria and Founder CODE PAKISTAN Mr. Dilawar Khan on behalf of CODE PAKISTAN. The Chancellor of Jamia Binoria Mufti Muhammad Naeem was also present on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of CODE PAKISTAN for peace and welfare of madrassahs. Founder CODE PAKISTAN Mr. Dilawar Khan thanked Chancellor of Jamia Naeemia Mufti Muhammad Naeem for his support to the cause and his personal interest in the promotion of peace in Pakistan.
